Volunteers who educate, support, and advocate for youth carry out the daily Inside/Out Youth Services mission. Whether you are looking for a short-term commitment or a long-term partnership, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.

Your talents and interests help us meet the challenge of creating change for LGBTIQ youth, so we want to make sure you have a great experience. If you want to volunteer in a way that isn’t listed below, contact eric@insideoutys.org to customize your own volunteer position!

Volunteer Positions:

1. Group Facilitators
   Inside/Out Youth Services offers support, discussion, and recreation groups for youth on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from 5:30-7:00. The groups are ongoing and are open to any youth. Adults facilitate youth-generated discussion and supervise recreational time. To be a Group Facilitator, volunteers must complete the volunteer application, undergo an in-person interview and background check, and complete a 10-hour training. [full description coming soon]
2. Drop-In Supervisors
   We are seeking supportive, outgoing individuals to supervise our Drop-In hours on Fridays from 3:30-5:30. Youth use Drop-In time to browse our library, utilize our computers, work on homework, and relax after school. To be a Drop-In Supervisor, volunteers must complete the volunteer application, undergo an in-person interview and background check, and complete a 10-hour training. [full description coming soon]
3. Creative Workshop Facilitators
   Be Yourself Healthy workshops help youth explore life and movement. We ask that workshop presenters plan for a minimum 6-week commitment once per week on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Previous workshops have included Yoga, Creative Writing and Belly Dance. Are you a passionate expert or teacher and want to share part of your joy with LGBTIQ youth? Please contact shawna@insideoutys.org.
4. Event Assistance
   Help us host and organize events for youth and Inside/Out fundraising events throughout the year! Volunteers can be involved in every aspect of events from planning committee to marketing to being present at the event. 5. Administrative/Office Support
   With only two full-time staff people, the chance to make a real difference with simple ways is huge at our administrative office! Interested individuals volunteer during regular business hours to help us with general clerical work such as data entry, filing, organizing and cleaning. We’ll even let you choose the radio station to work to! To provide Inside/Out with administrative support, contact shawna@insideoutys.org.
6. Internships
   Interns at Inside/Out Youth Services get involved in our direct services, from program development to implementation and evaluation. We will customize internships to benefit your need for experience with our mission’s need for help. For basic internship description, click here.
