On Saturday January 11th, Inside Out Youth Services took part at the Educating Children of Color Summit. We tabled alongside PFLAG, and both our programs the Pikes Peak Safe @ School Coalition and PEAQ presented. The Pikes Peak Safe @ School Coalition presented our Beyond the Binary training for local educators, principals, and therapist touching on LGBTIQ terminology, bullying statistics and methods on how schools can keep all students safe.
Members of the Pikes Peak Coalition had a tremendous role at the summit. We would like to thank Doug Kirkpatrick and PFLAG for tabling alongside us, and Lauren Cikara from the Responsible Sex Education Institute for co-presenting.
PEAQ, our youth leadership program, presented a panel at the summit. Their panel taught local students LGBTIQ terminology, empathy on the coming out process, shared personal testimonials and hosted a Q and A session. Fantastic job to Mack, Richard, Stefanie and Vincent for making a positive impact in our community!’
